Live Longer: Eat An Olive Oil-Rich Diet

By Erin Elster
Anyone who has travelled to the Mediterranean can tell you about the wonderful, healthy food in that region. Much of the health benefits and flavor are due to the generous use of organic extra virgin olive oil on salads, pasta, vegetables, fish, and almost anything else. Researchers are learning that people who consume  organic extra virgin olive oil regularly – especially in place of unhealthy fats such as animal fats, hydrogenated oils, and vegetable oils like corn oil – have much lower rates of heart disease, athersclerosis, diabetes, colon cancer, and asthma.

Olive oil is made from the crushing and then the subsequent pressing of olives. It is a natural juice that preserves the taste, aroma, and nutrients of the olive fruit. extra virgin olive oil – derived from the first pressing of the olives – has the most delicate flavor and the most health benefits.

The Health Benefits of Olive Oil

1. It protects against heart disease. Studies show that two tablespoons of organic extra virgin olive oil per day decreases total- and LDL cholesterol. It decreases atherosclerosis and protects the lining of our blood vessels, thus preventing high blood pressure.

2. It protects against breast cancer. Oleic acid, the primary monounsaturated fatty acid in organic extra virgin olive oil, has been shown to reduce the expression of certain oncogenes related to aggressive breast cancer tumor growth.

3. It reduces abdominal fat and insulin resistance. Diets high in organic extra virgin olive oil, as compared to those high in saturated fat, prevent belly fat accumulation and insulin resistance, which are associated with type 2 diabetes.

4. It decreases rates of asthma and rheumatoid arthritis. The monounsaturated fats in organic extra virgin olive oil are used to decrease inflammation in the body, thereby reducing inflammation involved with asthma and arthritis.

5. It decreases osteoporosis. Polyphenols in organic extra virgin olive oil greatly decrease the inflammation-mediated bone loss associated with osteoporosis.

6. It has anti-oxidant properties. Polyphenols in organic extra virgin olive oil protect DNA from free radical damage.

7. It protects against colon cancer. The organic extra virgin olive oil polyphenols protect the lining of the colon, blocking the carcinogenesis pathway.

Practical Tips

* To get the most health benefits and flavor from your organic extra virgin olive oil, add olive oil to foods immediately after cooking.
* Instead of serving butter, fill a small bowl with organic extra virgin olive oil and use as flavoring for your whole grain bread.
* Along with balsamic vinegar and lemon juice, rely on olive oil as your first choice for dressing salads.
* Drizzle olive oil over steamed vegetables, soups, grains, beans, and potatoes to enhance the flavor of your food.
* Add a tablespoon of olive oil to your morning eggs.

Purchasing and Storing Your extra virgin olive oil

Because organic extra virgin olive oil can become rancid when exposed to air, light and heat, there are some important guidelines to follow when purchasing and storing your organic extra virgin olive oil. Look for olive oils that are sold in dark, tinted bottles since the packaging will protect the oil from oxidation caused by light exposure. Make sure the oil is displayed in a cool area away from any light or heat sources. Instead of choosing the bottle in the front of the store’s display, choose the bottle in the back that has been protected from light exposure. At home, store your oil in a dark, cool place, such as a cabinet or pantry, instead of leaving it on the kitchen counter or table, which will lessen the oil’s health benefits. Keep your olive oil bottle tightly sealed. Be sure to buy only cold pressed, extra virgin olive oil for the best health benefits.

Make a positive choice for your health by incorporating a Mediterranean-style diet rich in olive oil. Especially when replacing unhealthy fat sources, olive oil will help you to live longer by decreasing the risk of many diseases. To enjoy the taste, aroma, and nutrients of the Mediterranean, grab yourself a bottle of cold pressed, extra virgin olive oil today!

Every job hunter wants an interview. It’s the in-person meeting that can make the difference between getting hired and being ignored. To insure your opportunity to win that interview, use an email cover letter. Email is read more often than postal mail and you’re likely to get a faster response with email cover letters, as well. Use standard letter protocol and be sure to study the specifics of the organization you’re targeting. A clear, well-written email cover letter guide is an excellent way to reach the hiring manager of your choice and make your bid for a job interview.

The Health Benefits of Olive Oil

Olive oil – the juice one makes by pressing an olive – has countless uses. Unlike other oils, many ways to use olive oil prove beneficial to human health. When picking out olive oil for cooking, the European grading system is based on the presence of free fatty acids, indicators of lower quality, damage and instability; “extra virgin olive oil,” for example, can contain less than .8% free fatty acids and “virgin” olive oil can contain less than 2%. In America, Grade A olive oil has a fatty acid content of 1.4% or less. Grade B is 2.5% or lower, Grade C is 3% and “fairly free from defects,” and Grade D is 3% or higher and “fails to meet the requirements of US Grade C.” First cold press olive oil is most desirable, as it yields the most consistent extra virgin olive oils. Here are a handful of health benefits:

1. Olive oil is lower in saturated fats than other oils.
Soybean oil, vegetable shortening, lard, and butter all contain significantly more saturated fat than olive oil, which offers a much larger amount of monounsaturated fat. The higher monounsaturated fat count has been said to help reduce the amount of LDL, or “bad” cholesterol while helping to bring up HDL, or “good” cholesterol levels. This then may help reduce your risk of heart disease.

2. Olive oil can be used as a skin moisturizer and revitalizer.
People can use olive oil to cleanse and moisturize one’s face and skin, as well as a way to remove earwax buildup by dropping it into one’s ears. Olive oil provides the skin with antioxidants, Vitamin A and E, and other treatments that have shown potential to help skin regenerate and recover from damage in the wake of pollution, cigarette smoke, and other environmental factors. Some people also recommend washing the backs of their ears with olive oil to clean a space that few people think of but where unpleasant buildups can happen.

3. Olive oil may help prevent colon cancer.
Research has shown that rats fed olive oil supplements develop colon cancer at a significantly lower rate than rats fed diets heavier in safflower oil. The olive oil fed-rats develop cancer at rates similar to rats that had consumed fish oil, which has also been shown to potentially reduce colon cancer rates.

4. Olive oil can help to deep condition hair and control dandruff.
Mixtures of olive oil and water after shampooing, then followed by an additional shampooing, can help to make hair shinier, stronger, and cleaner. People who suffer from intense dandruff buildups can benefit from the addition of olive oil to their showering routine, as it’ll stop the buildup of unsightly dandruff flakes in your hair, on you, and on your clothing.

5. Olive oil can help to reduce stomach irritation and bring down the potential to develop gallstones.
Individuals suffering from stomach issues may benefit from cooking with olive oils more than other cooking oils. Unlike other oils, olive oil helps trigger hormones from the pancreas and helps the stomach secrete bile, helping to weaken both ulcers
and painful symptoms associated with gastritis. This combination of factors helps to bring down one’s risk of developing gallstones, which are made up of crystalized bile and can lead to pancreatitis, jaundice, and other painful symptoms

Making Use Of An SMS Spy

Making Use Of An SMS Spy

Its been reported that on the average a teenager would send over 3000 text messages on a monthly basis. This is for real. That is an average of 6 text messages an hour. What do they really say in the texts? It is worth knowing. Knowing this can save both parents and kids from heartache.

Is there a way of really monitoring these kid’s text messages? Of course there is. You can do this with sms text message interceptor software.

You know your kids would not want you reading any incriminating text message. If they know you would want to read their messages, you can bet some messages would be deleted. With Text Message interceptor software, this would not matter at all.

The SMS spy is an application that has to be installed on the phone to be monitored. Once this is done, the SMS spy begins to keep records of all text messages that are either received or sent from the phone. The SMS spy would then send this information to an online account every 15 minutes. The parent can then access this at anytime and from anywhere they have access to the internet.

One good thing is that the software works invisibly do the phone user is no wiser.

This feature is really cool. You can set some words as keywords. If at anytime your kid receives or sends a text message and that word is included, you are immediately alerted.

There’s no rule that says the app is for parents alone. Long before many parents adopted this app, many people suspecting their spouses of being unfaithful have used it to read their spouse’s text messages.

Some business owners also use it for monitoring text message exchanges between employees and customers.

You can easily get an insight into what your kid does with an SMS spy. To get more information on this type of spy app, check out Android spy app resource site.

Electronic Cigarette The Big Issue of Tobacco: Are E Cigs Safer?

Electronic Cigarette The Big Issue of Tobacco: Are E Cigs Safer?

Welcome back to this series of articles about the electronic cigarette. We have already covered lots of issues surrounding the e cig, such as legality, cost, popularity and some of the other aspects that have made the device such a controversial talking point. This is actually part 10 of a series in which we have roughly gone through e cigarette themes in alphabetical order. If you want to catch up, please feel free to check out the other chapters.
In this chapter we will take a look at perhaps one of the biggest issues of all, the tobacco issue. Whichever way you look at it, the facts are that an electronic cigarette product contains no tobacco at all and during the few years since the e-cigarette has burst onto the market; the absence of tobacco has probably been its biggest selling point. It is well known that most of a traditional cigarettes danger is from the tobacco itself, with many poisons and known carcinogens present in the tobacco.
In the early years of its relatively brief history, (the device has been around for five or six years but only started to gain serious momentum in 2008) there were very few restrictions and distributors had a field day, marketing their new product as a quit smoking method due to it being free from tobacco.
However, it didnt take too long before health authorities (who perhaps initially thought it was just a gimmick that would soon fade away) had to take the e cig seriously and many objections about its safety and marketing techniques were raised.
These battles are still being waged deep into 2010, with electronic cigarette companies still in operation and still perfectly legal in many places, albeit with drastically altered marketing strategies. Advertising ploys such as safer smoking and healthier alternative to smoking cigarettes are no longer permitted.
Currently most electronic cigarettes are being marketed as an alternative or even an extension to the traditional smoking market. Health authorities are pressuring governments to ensure the product has to go through the same stringent checks and procedures as any other.
However, despite its rocky road travelled, the electronic cigarette industry continues to grow and expand and along with it, perhaps logically, its user base. The million (or perhaps billion) dollar question remains mysteriously unanswered for now though. Are electronic cigarettes safer than tobacco cigarettes? Fortunately its not my job to unravel that one!

Green Tea – The Gift From Asia

Green Tea – The Gift From Asia

We’ve spotted quite a lot of press coverage just lately with reference to green tea diet, for all the right reasons too. On top of being a uplifting drink, it’s also good for you and can potentially help you drop some pounds too. It’s possible that no one could deny that green tea has so many terrific benefits that all people should consume it every day. Some people simply love the taste, and in the Far East, people have been consuming tea as a daily ritual for a very long time. There has been universal interest and study in many countries on the healthy effects of this humble plant from Asia. Let’s just mention a few items: weight loss ability, help with certain diseases, and cleansing the body of poisons and toxins. The following information takes a good look at how this little Asian plant can do wonderful things for your body.

There’s numerous of specific systems relating to how to lose weight fast, something very simple you could really easily include into your weekly habit is drinking green tea. Did you know that green tea is good for your teeth and gums? What makes this even more compelling and relevant is the news that your heart and oral conditions are intertwined.

If you look at the ingredients of all natural toothpastes, you’ll find that many now include green tea. What has also been reported is green tea’s ability to stave off tooth decay by merely drinking it as anyone normally would. Green tea will keep your mouth free of the plaque-causing varieties of bacteria – how about them apples? For greater dental health, you can simply consume green tea as a drink, or buy toothpaste that contains it – or both!

Yet even more super powers of green tea have to do with prevention or support qualities for bone diseases and arthritis. There are anti-inflammatory properties in green tea, and that makes it effective for arthritis and other similar inflammation-aggravated conditions. Therefore, people who experience pain due to the inflammation action can help their conditions by regular consumption of green tea.

Anything that can contribute to reducing the overall symptons, as well as offering other healthy benefits, should be seriously considered.

You can achieve a higher energetic state due to the stimulant properties, and that can help motivate you to exercise more. What’s so good about that is you can lose any excess weight faster and easier which will have positive impacts in other areas. While people take many supplements for energy, most are not very healthy. For example, a lot of energy drinks are high in sugar and caffeine, too. The caffeine in green tea is only roughly half as much as found in a cup of coffee, so you won’t be getting such a high intake of caffeine.

There really are no drawbacks with green tea because it is safe and natural, and the cost is low so that should not be an issue. You can take green tea in a capsule, or you can make a great tea and drink it. It’s a healthy alternative to soft drinks or coffee, and green tea has about half the amount of caffeine as coffee. Keep in mind that we’ve only talked about a handful of benefits; so there really are a number of solid reasons to start drinking it every day. Green tea really does seem like it promotes health for the entire body.

The above benefits of green tea are only a few of the ones that have become known recently. As stated above, you can drink the tea or take it in alternative form. Of course you need to take it regularly so you can experience all the benefits.

Taking a Look at Grandparents and Third-Party Custody/Visitation Agreements

Sections 3040-3080 within the California Code deal with the challenge of child custody, and the one thing which stands out more than anything is the fact the state endeavors to place the well-being of the children first as well as limit any trauma which they may go through when deciding on a custody case. Dads and moms should do exactly the same, and the fact is they generally do. Some 95% of dissolution of marriage arrangements are actually uncontested, and therefore both sides have voluntarily decided the terms, such as child custody. Consequently in many instances, the grandparents will basically receive suitable access to the children without any opposition from the custodial mother or father. Nevertheless grandparents who are declined voluntary visitation may petition the court for visitation rights, and the judgement is going to be made based on the court’s perception of precisely what is best for the children.

For those who have questions or concerns concerning grandparents and third-party custody and/or visitation, a good San Diego CA divorce attorney can offer the assistance you’ll need with any aspect of a San Diego CA divorce.

Cleaning Your Freezer – Use Boiling Water

Start thawing the ice. This can take some time. Put the towels down the bottom of the freezer to catch any drips so you dont get water going everywhere. You can either leave the freezer turned off and leave it to defrost while you go and tackle a few other London domestic cleaning jobs while the ice melts, or you can speed things up by putting a bowl or two of boiling water inside and closing the door. You will still need to wait for thing to do their work you will probably have enough time to vacuum the floor or clean the bathroom while you wait.Once you have waited long enough, open the door and remove the bowls of now-cool water, if you used the boiling water method. Pull on the ski gloves and pick up the spatula. Use this spatula to prise the ice off the side of the freezer. Be careful not to scratch the inside of the freezer. Pick up the chunks of ice and put them in the empty bucket. When the bucket is full, take it outside and dump it in an odd corner, where it will melt happily.

How to Trade Currencies On the Web

It may seem pretty difficult yet in reality nearly anyone can trade on the foreign currency exchange marketplace nowadays. You could register a trading account with a good FX brokerage. They generally discuss with you regarding all the features that you want for your trade. For instance they might enquire what currencies you wish to trade and how much money you would like to utilize for your trading activity. Most forex dealers demand a minimum starting account size of about $2,000 which is absolutely normal. If you cannot handle that amount then it could be a better idea to think about cheaper forms of investment trading like financial spread betting.
